Smash the head

Greetings, fellow hunters! Today I'm thrilled to bring you the most comprehensive Kulu Ya ku guide. Whether you're a seasoned hunter or a rookie trying to figure out this quirky bird-wyvern, you've come to the right place. Let's dive into all things Kulu Ya ku!

Kulu-Ya-Ku's Story Quest

Kulu Ya ku is one of the early monsters you'll encounter in your Monster Hunter Now journey. Its story quest starts with a modest two-star difficulty and is unlocked at the end of Chapter 1's "Beyond the Dust Clouds" urgent quest. This is where the real adventure begins.

Weak against water, attack the head and forelegs

Kulu-Ya-Ku: The Basics

Before we delve into Kulu Ya ku's moves, let's get to know the basics. Kulu Ya ku belongs to the bird-wyvern species and can be found in various biomes, including the forest, desert, and swamp. It doesn't have elemental attacks, and its elemental weakness is water. You can break its head and four legs for maximum impact.

One of the unique traits of Kulu Ya ku is its tendency to grab and use objects. Just like the original Monster Hunter and Monster Hunter: World, it can carry objects like eggs but drops them when attacked. Kulu Ya ku is also known for its resourcefulness in wielding rocks as both weapons and shields.

Kulu-Ya-Ku's Moves

Kulu Ya Ku Beak Rush

Kulu Ya ku attempts to stab you with its beak four times in a straight line. It signals this move by raising its head high. Dodge this by rolling left or right.

Kulu Ya Ku Salsa Hands

Kulu Ya ku is ready to dance and swipes its claws at you twice, showing a casual backhand gesture as a signal. Dodge by rolling left or right.

Kulu Ya Ku Leap Attack

This is where Kulu Ya ku leaps at you, trying to squash you with its claws. Watch for the signal: it jumps once before leaping. Dodge this by rolling left or right.

Kulu Ya Ku digging up a rock

Kulu Ya ku can dig up a rock to use as a weapon or shield. When it's about to do this, it will dig the ground and somehow find a rock, every single time. Now, you wont be able to attack from the front, just try to attack from the side or backside. Be amazed and wonder how it pulls off this magic trick each time.

Kulu Ya Ku Beak Rush - Rock Version

Similar to Beak Rush but with a rock in its beak. The signal remains the same, but now it's carrying a hefty rock. Roll left or right to avoid.

Kulu Ya Ku Rock Smash

Kulu Ya ku leaps at you to smash you with the rock it's holding. The signal is the same jump, with the added detail that it may drop the rock after using this move. Take advantage of this opportunity to strike back.

Kulu Ya Ku Rockhammer

Kulu Ya ku tries to smash you with the rock, like a hammer. It raises the rock to its side as the signal. Roll left or right to evade.

Kulu Ya Ku Running Rock Hammer

Kulu Ya ku runs at you, aiming to smash you with the rock. It will leap twice before launching the attack. Roll left or right to avoid.

Kulu Ya Ku Rock Dodge Ball

This is where Kulu Ya ku throws its rock at you. It will raise and lower the rock before yelling at you and hurling it your way. Dodge left or right to sidestep this unusual dodgeball.

Kulu-Ya-Ku's Guard

As hard as a rock

Kulu Ya ku can use its rock as a shield to block your attacks. When it's holding the rock as a shield, it'll hold it in front. Don't underestimate this little bird's defense – it can block even special attacks, so be cautious when attacking. It can also bounce your melee weapon back, like a recoil.

Tips and Tricks

To make your hunts against Kulu Ya ku more efficient:

  • Break the head and four legs to make Kulu Ya ku drop the rock it's holding.
  • If you're using melee weapons, stick to the side of Kulu Ya ku and target its forearms.
  • If your weapon hits overhead (like a hammer), you can still hit Kulu Ya ku even when it's holding the rock.
  • If you're using a ranged weapon, aim for Kulu Ya ku's head and try to keep it in front of you.
  • Remember, many of Kulu Ya ku's attacks can be dodged by rolling to the left or right.

Kulu Ya ku may be quirky, but with the right strategy, you'll be cracking its defenses in no time. Whether you're looking to collect materials, test your combat skills, or simply have fun, Kulu Ya ku is a great addition to the Monster Hunter Now world.

Your support means the world to me, your interaction fuels the drive to keep delivering timely and valuable guides for all fellow hunters out there.

Good luck in your Kulu Ya ku hunts, and may your Halloween event in Monster Hunter Now be filled with pumpkin-flavored success.

Until next time, happy hunting, and I'll see you in the next one!
